TECHNICAL CONSULTANT

OPPORTUNITY
As a Technical Consultant, you’ll be responsible for applying your general systems and programming knowledge to help our clients evaluate and improve the functionality and performance of their IT systems. You’ll be part of team of professionals that work directly with clients to successfully develop and execute both functional and performance validation and optimization programs. Specific responsibilities include:

Client Service and Delivery:

  • Develop test cases and test scripts by analyzing business requirements and working with users, developers and business analysts.
  • Create and execute test scripts using industry standard tools such as Mercury’s LoadRunner or QuickTest Pro.
  • Develop test plans (functional and performance) based on a thorough understanding of the specific processes being supported and our client’s test objectives.
  • Analyze performance test results and offer specific tuning recommendations.
  • Document and implement tuning recommendations, working with company team members and client resources.
  • Work with client and other team members to construct and validate required project documents.
  • Participate in test design and review meetings with client and company personnel.
  • Communicate a variety of information (performance test concepts, test results, status, recommendations, etc) to client and company management.
Internal Development & Knowledge:
  • Contribute to the development of company intellectual property by participating in internal development projects and sharing knowledge gained on engagements.
  • Participate in internal team meetings and help drive the continued development of our methodology.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum General:

  • Bachelors Degree with strong Engineering or Computer Science background. CS Majors preferred.
  • Programming experience or course-work in C/C++, Java, Perl, HTML/XML, and/or VB.
  • Knowledge of basic networking.
  • Knowledge of system development life cycle.
  • Ability to construct and manage project documentation such as test plans, work plans, project plans, and results documents.
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment.
  • Demonstration of problem-solving abilities.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills. You will be asked to provide a writing sample.
  • Provide evidence of self-motivation.
  • Flexibility for travel.
Other Useful:
  • Previous positions at a Big 4 consulting firm, major systems integrator or similar consulting experience.
  • Strong background with the major ERP/CRM packages (e.g. SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft).
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Mercury Tools including WinRunner, LoadRunner, Topaz, QuickTest Pro or TestDirector.
  • Previous experience in Performance or Functional testing.
